Basically, Pakistan Army Ranks can be divided into three categories:

It’s important to know that the Junior Commissioned Officers of Pakistan Army typically wear their insignia on the shoulder of their Khaki uniform. On the other hand Non-commissioned officers of Pakistan Army wear their rank insignia on their arm. While all the army personnel in CCD wear their insignia on the chest.

Field Marshal

This is the highest Pakistan Army Rank and it has been only achieved by one person in the history of Pakistan Army. General Ayub Khan was the person who reached at the rank of Field Marshal. The officer of Field Marshal Rank is called Five-Star Officer. Insignia of this rank is two crossed batons, one crescent star both in a wreath of oak leaves separately.

General

General is the highest rank in Pakistan Army. Its insignia is recognized by one crossed baton, one crescent, and one star. The officer of this rank is also called Four-Star General. Current General of Pakistan Army is Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa accompanied by Joint Chief of Army Staff.

Lieutenant General

The rank of Lieutenant General in Pakistan Army is lower than General. Its insignia consists of one crossed baton, on the crescent, and one star. Lieutenant General is also known as Three Star General and controls the entire army corps of Pakistan.

Major General

This rank of Major General in Pakistan Army is similar to the rank of Rear-Admiral of Pak navy and Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) of Pak Air Force. Its insignia consists of one crossed baton and one crown and the officer of this rank is also call Two-Star General. A Major General in Pakistan Army has 3 divisions under his control and each division consists of 3 brigadiers.

Brigadier

The insignia of a Brigadier in Pakistan Army consists of one crescent, one star, and three crowns. The officer of this rank in Pakistan Army is also called One-Star General. BPS of a Brigadier is 20.

Colonel

The insignia of Colonel in Pakistan Army consists of two crowns, one crescent, and one star. BPS of a Colonel in Pakistan Army is 19.

Lieutenant Colonel

The insignia of a Lieutenant Colonel in Pakistan Army is recognized by one crown, crescent, and a star. BPS of a Lieutenant Colonel in Pakistan Army is 18. A Lieutenant Colonel in Pakistan Army is the head of a complete Battalion.

Major

Major rank in Pakistan Army is greater than a Captain in Pakistan Army. Its insignia consists of one crescent and one star. BPS of a Major in Pakistan Army is 18. In the absence of Lieutenant Colonel a Major can perform his duties.

Captain The insignia of a Captain in Pakistan Army consists of three crowns. BPS of a Captain in Pakistan Army is 17.

Lieutenant

Second Lieutenant

Subedar Major

Naib Subedar

Naib Subedar is the lowest rank in Junior Commissioned Officers category and its insignia consists of one strip and a crown. BPS of a Naib Subedar in Pakistan Army is 14.

Battalion Havildar Major

Battalion Havildar Major is the highest rank in Non Commissioned Officers category. Its insignia consists of three strips. BPS of a Battalion Havildar Major is 11 or 9.

Battalion Quartermaster Havildar

Company Havildar Major

Havildar

It is the highest rank in Non Commissioned Officers category in Pakistan Army. A Havildar is usually promoted from the rank of a Naik. Insignia of a Havildar in Pakistan army consists of three strips.
